Teen Wicca and Witchcraft Books

Is Wicca safe for a teen?

Wicca is a form of witchcraft and Paganism. Those 3 terms can strike fear in the hearts of most parents. When in fact, Wicca, witchcraft and Paganism are beautiful religions that embrace the equality of all things natural. If my teen were interested in Wicca, I would be thrilled, especially if I had a girl. Wicca, witchcraft and Paganism honor both the male and female energies. Wicca tends to favor the goddess slightly over the god energy. Woman in Wicca are seen as powerful beings that can be spiritual leaders and teachers. A woman who has the right strengths and qualities can become a high priestess, if she feels drawn to that path. A Wiccan high priestess is held with the same honor and reverence as a Catholic priest. But I digress... Wicca helps one connect with nature and develop a respect for all living things. The Wiccan practitioner becomes very involved in the spiritual aspect of their life and those he or she cares for. They become very proactive in their day-to-day life and find great reverence in everyday things. Much like the Japanese who develop ceremony and ritual for simple processes like making and serving tea, a Wiccan creates a special " sacredness " in the same manner.

Can a teen witch perform rituals and magic?

Ritual is an important part of Wicca. It's a beautiful ceremony to watch. It's not difficult to do once you understand the steps to perform the ritual. A teen can do ritual as easily as an adult. A ritual is a series of actions to create a sacred space... within that ritual, divination ( psychic readings ), spells and magic can be performed. Then another series of actions are completed to close the ritual and send out the intentions to the universe. Magic spells are an expanded version of prayer. Spells are not "necessary"... BUT are helpful to those who have trouble staying focused on working with energy. In a spell, the Wiccan may use candle, color, aroma, gemstones, herbs and found natural items to empower the belief that the magic is stronger. And if you believe that it helps, then it does. If you feel that a pink, rose scented candle will attract love to you, then you will be more effective. Keep in mind that this isn't like "charmed"... spells will not fix anything without effort on your part. If you need money, you may find a job. It's the give and take of energy flow that makes magic work. If you get a good job and overspend, a spell isn't go to fix that. Once you learn to do witchcraft, you'll find that you are no longer a victim of fate, karma, God's will or wrath.

What about Satan, nudity and sacrifice in witchcraft?

Wiccans do not worship Satan. Satan comes from the Christianity and Wiccans do not observe that energy. Because he does not exist to them, they wouldn't worship him. A real Wiccan would never do black magic because it goes against the Wiccan rede. However, I see many spells out there to harm others so there are Wiccans who bend the rules to suit their needs. I wouldn't consider them Wiccan... but rather a witch. Witchcraft in itself has no rules. You will find witches who work on the positive end of the spectrum and those who work the negative. Wicca honors the human body and the act of sex as a sacred combining of male and female energy. Most Wiccans do not practice nude and most do not practice ritual sex. But we respect those that do and understand why they do it. Most Wiccans wear ritual clothing only to be work for ritual purposes. I know of no Wiccan that would sacrifice and animal because all life is sacred to them. Many are vegetarian and animal advocates. A sacrifice means to give an offering.  In church, everyone gives money. To me... an offering must come from me. The term sacrifice means I have to give something that is "of me". I could give money to an animal shelter. I could donate time and services for a charity or to help someone in need. I can do a random act of kindness anonymously.
